CC: shoulder pain

Pt presented with left should pain. The injury occurred yesterday while doing yard work. Mr. Jones HTN and diabetes is controlled on current medicine.

In the HPI do you count HTN and diabetes as associated signs and symptoms which would make the HPI extended or do you only count the elements associated with the cc which would only be brief.

HPI means history of PRESENT illnes so chronic conditions like HTN and diabetes would not factor in here.

It would for past medical history under the PFSH.
